Welcome to the library.  We serve all ambulance services in England except South Western Ambulance Service and the Isle of Wight.  Your librarian is Matt Holland,  Matt can be reached by eMail at  Matt.Holland@nwas.nhs.uk. We can help you whether you are a Newly Qualified Paramedic or undertaking a research project.  Just get in touch. 

We are a virtual service.  This means there is no physical library.  All our books and journals are online.  You can contact the library through our website [ https://ambulance.libguides.com ] and request services such as literature searches or copies of books and journal articles using online forms.  If you prefer to eMail you requests and questions our eMail address is library@nwas.nhs.uk.

To access any resources you need an NHS OpenAthens account.   This gives you a User Name and Password to login to National Health Service (NHS) provided resources.  Registration is free and simple to do.  Complete the online form here to create your account.  Use this User Name and Password whenever you are asked to login with NHS OpenAthens. 

You have access to thousands of eBooks through the library's eBook service VLe. Follow the links to login with your NHS OpenAthens account. We welcome suggestions for new titles.  Just let the library know if there is a book you want that isn't available.  

The Knowledge and Library Hub is a single point of entry to library resources.  Click on the link and login using your NHS OpenAthens account.  From the Hub you can search databases (Medline), access the full text of journal articles, find eBooks and clinical reference (BMJ Best Practice).
