Your Canine Guide through Health Information Week - Jobe the Dog

Let me introduce myself

My name is Jobe and I am a 12-year-old Black Labrador.  My 12th  birthday is on 09 July.  A few things about me.  I have had challenges with my weight in the past.  Now I am a healthy 28.5 kilos.  The problem was I ate too much and didn't get enough exercise.  I now walk five miles a day and my food intake is stickily controlled.   I eat a lot of vegetables, carrots are my favourite as they fill me up but have no fat.  Now that I am a bit older its even more important that I keep moving.  I can't rely on my puppy energy anymore.  Funny thing is if I don't walk I get lethargic, bored, bad-tempered and eat socks.  If I do walk I feel energized and happy. I sleep better too. I have an insatiable curiosity for people, things, and food in bushes.  I'm sociable, I don't bite and I am good with small dogs.  That makes my walks fun.  We (humans and I)  meet and talk to lots of people and occasionally they give me treats and it makes us both feel better.
